Registering with Kyodai Remittance is easy and free. Once registered, you can start sending money to your family and friends overseas. Registration is required even if you plan to send money only once.

What you need before you start

Before registering, please make sure you have a valid form of identification.

• For foreign residents: a residence card with your current address

• For Japanese nationals: a driver’s licence or My Number card with your current address

• If you use a passport, you will also need a second document showing your current address, such as a health insurance card or a juminhyo issued within the last three months

If you submit a national health insurance card, please make sure the insurer and insured numbers are hidden for privacy reasons.

Choose your registration method

You can register using any of the following methods.

Register using the Kyodai app

This is the fastest way to register. If you complete electronic identity verification (eKYC), your registration may be approved within a few hours.

To get started:

• Download the Kyodai app from the App Store or Google Play

• Follow the instructions in the app to enter your details and upload your ID

• Complete the identity verification process

Once your registration is approved, you can start sending money directly from the app.

Register at a Kyodai counter or agent

You can visit a Kyodai branch or agent location in Japan to register in person.

• Bring your valid ID documents

• Staff will help you complete the registration process

• In some cases, you may be able to send money on the same day

Register online on the website

If you prefer to register using a web browser:

• Select the online registration option on the website

• Complete the form and upload your ID documents

Please note that online registration usually takes around three to five business days to be approved.

Registration by post usually takes three to five business days to process.

After your registration is complete

Once your registration is approved:

• You will receive your Kyodai number, which is your customer ID

• You can add beneficiaries and start sending money
